Hello, Baby Lemon!

Baby Yellow, aka Peanut, is the size of a lemon this week! Isn't that just fantastic? The most exciting part each week for me is reading about the development of the baby, and more specifically, it's size compared to a fruit or vegetable. Each week I say to Chris, do you know what size your child is this week? This week, his guess, a peach. Then starts the debate about the size of a lemon versus the size of a peach, and here is a glimpse into the conversational goings-on in our household.

We're 14 weeks and 1 day today, and so far eating is still a challenge. Likes this week: cherry popsicles, buttered rolls, salad(I've already been through a bag and a half of lettuce this week alone), pasta, and Reese's eggs. Dislikes this week: meat, popcorn, seafood, fried foods, anything wrapped in foil or metallic tasting. For the days I don't eat meat, our doctor recommended drinking an Ensure.

Last weekend we went on the hunt for a crib, and we found ours at Lone Star Baby in Frisco(thanks to Rita for the recommendation!). Thank you to my ever so generous and over the moon parents for such a lovely baby gift! Here's a pic...

CONVERTIBLE CRIB-CARRAGIO EMPIRE CHERRY

Options for room decor at this stage in the game, if it's a boy, Calvin and Hobbes(isn't my husband so creative for thinking of this? How cute!!!). If it's a girl, most likely, Winnie-the-Pooh(but this isn't 100%).

Baby names in the lead:

Girls, first name:
Zoey
Violet

Boys, first name:
Chase (Chase and Chris, how cute is that? I'll stop with the "cute" soon, I promise!)
Corey
Ethan

Girls, middle name:
Amelia
Violet

Boy's middle name:
Bounds(my Dad and brothers' middle name, so the baby would carry a Hedrick name and the Dickinson name on)

P.S. This post is for Ken who has requested more updates than just our doctor's visits, thanks for checking in so often :)

Second Trimester! We're having a soccer player...

Our latest doctor's appointment was Friday, April 15th, at 3:30PM. Baby Yellow, aka Peanut, is the size of a plum this week. Next week(13 weeks) baby will be the size of a peach!

We had our sonogram first, and we got to hear the heartbeat at 167. If old wives' tales are to be believed, we might just be having a little girl(fast heartbeat). Baby was sleeping at first and didn't want to wake up. Definitely my child :) With a little encouragement, baby woke up and started moving around! It was so incredible to watch. You could see it's spine, arms, hands, and legs, looking like a little person!

This week they were measuring the length of the baby, right on the mark at 12 weeks and 4 days, and looking to see if baby's nose bone is developed(an early indication of down syndrome). Baby looks fantastic and after a blood test(to test for down syndrome and a few other chromosomal abnormalities) we were good to go!

Our next appointment is on May 13th at 3:45PM and.....we had the option of doing the gender sonogram! We've already scheduled it, so next post we'll announce if we've having a boy or girl! Either way, he/she will be soooooo incredibly loved, a Cowboy's and Mav's fan(I am bound by marriage to list Texas Rangers as well), and a soccer player(please see the first sono pic above where the baby is already kicking for evidence!). :)

We've officially announced that we're pregnant, thanks to everyone who kept our secret!
